With a powerful V6 engine, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System (SH-AWD) and class-leading standard features, the 2007 Acura RL is now available in two trim levels to meet the needs of a diverse customer base.

They are the RL and the new RL Elite Package, with Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices of $63,900 for RL and $69,500 for RL with Elite Package.

Acura's new RL with Elite Package adds Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Active Front Lighting system, ventilated front seats for heating and cooling and genuine curly maple wood interior trim.

Acura's Collision Mitigation Braking System on the RL Elite Package utilizes a millimeter-wave radar unit mounted behind the RL's grille to monitor the distance and closing rate between the RL and the vehicle directly in front of it. It then uses that information to continuously calculate the likelihood of a frontal collision.

If the distance and closing rate exceeds a programmed threshold, the system will sound audio and visual alerts to warn the driver. If the driver does not take action to reduce speed, the Collision Mitigation Braking System will automatically tug at the driver's seat belt and apply light braking. If the system senses that a collision has become inevitable, the front seat belts retract tightly and strong braking is automatically applied, lowering the speed of impact and possibly reducing the severity of passenger injury and damage for both vehicles involved.

The RL Elite package also includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). ACC not only functions like a conventional cruise control system but also compensates for varying traffic flow, adjusting vehicle speed automatically by applying throttle and braking to maintain a consistent following interval (measured in seconds) between the RL and the vehicle directly in front.

RL Elite Package also features the Active Front Lighting System (AFS) for increased illumination and visibility. Low beams swivel up to 20 degrees in either direction in response to vehicle speed and input from the steering wheel. During straight-line driving the headlights perform like conventional systems by illuminating the road directly in front of the vehicle. When cornering, the inboard light swivels according to input from steering and vehicle speed sensors to illuminate a larger area of road surface throughout the corner, thus minimizing blind spots.

Both RL models feature Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), an innovative all-wheel drive platform that distributes the optimum amount of torque not only between the front and rear wheels but also between the left and right rear wheels to give it the most precise handling in its class.

RL features a 290 hp V6 engine and a five-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission that enables gears to be shifted manually using the shift lever on the center console or with the paddle-shifters located on the steering wheel.
